Research
My scholarship examines how Shakespeare lives on today, focusing on the ideological uses of Shakespeare and his cultural authority, most especially in the American racial and gendered imaginary. I thus explore the intersecting constructions of race and gender in Shakespeare’s dramas as well as in Shakespearean adaptations, appropriations, performances, pop culture references.
